What is Pen patat?
The literal definition of pen patat is- pen means bread and patat is sweet potato. The best way to describe pen patat is: If a sweet potato pie married a Jamaican bread pudding and had a baby, the baby would be pen patat-the best of both worlds. You’ll find a version of sweet potato pie in almost every part of the world whether it is in the American south, the Caribbean, or Latin America. Bon Gou pen patat has many of those characteristics that makes it familiar, and yet is unique and stand on its own.
Why It’s So Special?
Bon Gou Pen Patat is carefully handcrafted using the finest, freshest ingredients (from local farms when possible). Every ingredient from the rapadou (unrefined brown sugar) to the Florida Batata, to the spices is chosen to give our baked goods the distinct, delectable, flavor and texture that is sure to please. Every morning (once my children go off to school), I start my day washing, peeling and hand grating batata, ginger, and lime (for the fresh lime zest) to create the high-quality product that my customers deserve and have come to expect. Take one bite of Bon Gou pen patat and you’ll notice what a difference that makes!

What is Rapadou?
Rapadou is a solid form of unrefined cane sugar, high in molasses content that gives it the caramel characteristics and color. While in Haiti it is called Rapadou, it is also produced and consumed in Latin American and many Asian countries.

I really love Jamaican bread pudding, so I decided to try the coconut pen patat. OMG!!! The best version of sweet potato pie I've ever had!
